Addiction is more than a physical dependence. It is a bondage of the soul, mind, and body. Not only does it separate us from our families, but it leads toward the destruction of everything important to us.

Difficulty, pain, and adversity are realities of life. We live in a culture that avoids pain and suffering at all costs---often turning to harmful behaviors and addictive substances to change how we feel. Pain can be a great motivator to change, helping to break through denial and see our powerlessness. It has been said that the way to a person's heart is through a wound---we often find God through sufferings. In that relationship we find peace and joy. Hopelessness is turned into hope and we are restored to wholeness and wellness through the recovery process.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed"(John 8:36).
